Abstract: In order to analyze the cause of corrosion defects of a submarine pipeline, the microstructure and chemical composition of the pipeline substrate and corrosion products were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The results showed that the inclusion in pipeline substrate was the main cause of corrosion defects forming in the submarine pipeline.
