Abstract: The distribution of mercury-containing oil and gas fields and mercury content in whole world, as well as the common forms and characteristics of mercury in oil and gas fields are introduced. The research and application in corrosion characteristics and control technology of mercury and its compounds on common metals and their alloys used in oil and gas pipelines and equipment are reviewed systematically. It is necessary to strengthen the research direction or problems of mercury-containing oil and gas fields in the future.
