Corrosion Behavior of Auto-used Aluminum Alloys/CFRP in NaCl Solution

    • The corrosion behavior of the couples of carbon fiber refinforced polymer (CFRP) and three kinds of aluminum alloys was investigated through tafel curves and weight loss method. The morphology was observed by optical microscopy (OM),and the corrosion depth was tested by step profiler. The effect of surface roughness of CFRP on corrosion behavior was studied. The results indicated that galvanic corrosion and crevice corrosion occured on the aluminum alloy′s surface between the coupled materials.A proportional relation was found between the degree of corrosion measured and the own corrosion resistance of the aluminum alloys. As the surface roughness of CFRPs increased, the corrosion depth of aluminum alloys reduced and the corrosion area increased.
