Failure Analysis of Connecting Blots in a Floating Head Heat Exchanger

Failure analysis of the fixing bolts in a heat-exchanger was performed by means of rupture macroscopical analysis,chemical composition analysis,fracture surface SEM analysis,hardness and metallographic analysis.The results showed that low Cr content and sensitization caused a great decline of the corrosion resistance of bolts and with the erosion of working medium,intergranular stress corrosion cracking happened in the bolt and caused the fracture finally.
