Abstract
The inhibition effects of several simulated extracellular polymeric substances for A3 steel in 1 mol·L-1 HCl were studied with weight loss method, potentiodynamic polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques, and the corrosion morphology was observed by SEM. It was found that bovine serum albumin had high inhibition efficiency against A3 steel corrosion and the inhibition of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose was lower. However, fulvic acid, humic acid sodium and sodium alginate almost had no effect on inhibition of A3 steel and sometimes accelerated the corrosion of A3 steel.
