    A Novel Assessment Method for Corrosion Protection State Based on Numerical Simulation

    • A corrosion assessment method for pipe laying vessel based on numerical simulation was proposed. A corrosion protection state evaluation matrix generated by numerical simulation calculation and the potential values of the monitoring points on the submerged structure were used to assess the corrosion protection state. Then the assessment results would be displayed by protection potential coloring contour using 3D visualization. Then the method was verified by the pipe laying vessel scale model test in laboratory. The results indicate that the corrosion protection state of the submerged structure could be well assessed through this method, and the weak areas of corrosion protection on the submerged structure of the pipe laying vessel could be directly displayed by the 3D corrosion protection potential coloring contour.
