Analysis of Reasons for Subsea Pipeline Perforation

Abstract
Macrograph and microstructure observation, chemical composition and corrosion product analysis were used to analyze the reasons for subsea pipeline perforation in an oil field platform. The results show that the carbon content of the perforated elbow exceeded standard, the lose corrosion products in the inner surface of subsea pipeline were composed of Fe2O3 and Fe3O4. The perforation reason of elbow was erosion and under-deposit corrosion. The perforation reason of subsea pipeline covered by fouling layer was under-deposit corrosion.
