    Corrosion Failure Reason of Water Treatment Pipeline in an Oil Ship

    • Serious leakage damage of an oil ship water treatment pipeline occurred, the diameter of corrosion penetration hole was about 45 mm, which caused potential safety hazard and economic lost. The failed part of pipe was analyzed by means of tests of chemical and mechanical properties, microstructure examination, XRD and EDS to find out the corrosion and leakage reasons. The results showed that the main reason of leakage was under-deposit corrosion caused by the deposit of CO2 corrosion products of FeCO3.
