Hydrogen Embrittlement Behavior of X80 Steel in Different Xinjiang Soil Environments

    • Hydrogen embrittlement of large diameter X80 pipeline steel in the simulation solutions of three typical soils in Xinjiang was studied by slow strain rate test (SSRT) with applied potential, SEM and potentiodynamic polarization curve. The results showed that at -1.1 V (CSE) cathodic potential, the strength and plastic deformation losses of X80 steel occurred, indicating the hydrogen embrittlement sensitivity. In different environments, with the increase of soil electrical conductivity and the decrease of pH, hydrogen embrittlement sensitivity of the X80 steel increased.
