Corrosion Inhibition of Sodium Oleate on AM60 Magnesium Alloy in Ethylene Glycol Solution

    • Corrosion inhibition of sodium oleate on AM60 magnesium alloy in ethylene glycol solution was studied by electrochemical measurements and SEM. The results showed that sodium oleate as an anodic corrosion inhibitor exhibited good corrosion inhibitive performance for AM60 magnesium in 50% (V/V) ethylene glycol-water solution, and its inhibitive efficiency increased with the increasing concentrations of sodium oleate. Sodium oleate had good corrosion inhibition at room temperature as well as at high temperature, and it had better inhibition effect at room temperature. Moreover, the adsorption of sodium oleate on the surface of AM60 magnesium alloy was a spontaneous process and obeyed the Temkin adsorption isotherm equation.
