Safety Analysis of Single Defect Corroded Submarine Pipe under Combining Load

    • The safety of corroded submarine pipe was assessed according to allowable stress approach. The stress in single defect corroded pipe under combining load (internal pressure and compressive load along longitudinal axis) was analyzed through finite element simulation. The sensibility of geometry parameters that affected the maximum pressure of pipe was studied. The results show that effective stress of pipe displayed a tendency of increase first and then decrease with the increase of internal pressure, as the value of compressive longitudinal stress of corroded pipe kept stable. Then the pipe reached stable yielding stage until failure.
