Abstract
The effect of Mg on the oxidation behavior of new alloy baths was studied by observing the macro-state and micro-morphology of molten metal of a new alloy coating (molten alloy) after oxidation test, combing with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analyses. The results show that Mg had a significant effect on the oxidation behavior of the molten alloy. The high temperature oxidation resistance of the molten alloy became worse and the oxide layer increased regularly with the increase of Mg content, when the aluminum content was constant. The surface quality of the alloy coating was seriously affected when the Mg content exceeded a certain amount.
