Causes of Inlet Pipe Leakage in Acetic Acid Recovery Tank

The causes of inlet pipe leakage of acetic acid recovery tank were analyzed by means of macro and micro corrosion morphology observation, chemical composition analysis of pipe and corrosion product. The results show that pitting corrosion and perforation because of the existance of bromide ion were found in inlet pipe of acetic acid recovery tank. The pipe was overheated in service because of unstable process, which accelerated pitting corrosion of the pipe in acetic acid solution containing Br^- and finally resulted in perforation.
