Selection of Insulating Coating on Stainless Steel 316L of an Oil and Gas Subsea Pipeline Project

    • An offshore oil and gas field development project was designed to use insulation coating on the inner surface of 316L submarine pipeline. Seven kinds of coatings were coated on the surface of 316L stainless steel's surface respectively. With a high temperature and high pressure autoclave simulating the environment of seabed pipeline internal environment, immersing tests were curried out, the appearence, adhesion, abrasion resistance, hardness, shear strength and resistance to scratch of the samples before and after immersion were compared. The results showed that coating 2, coating 5 and coating 3 were optimized, which provided the reference basis for coating design in oil and gas field development project.
