Abstract
To compare the oxidation resistance of T91 steel and TP304 steel in the environment of waste incineration, oxidation experiments were carried out at temperatures of 530, 600, 670℃ in a gas environment of waste incineration simulated by water vapor with a trace of KCl. The results show that the oxidation mass gain of T91 steel was 5 times as much as that of TP304 steel after oxidation for 24 h in high temperature water vapor with a trace of KCl, which indicated that TP304 steel performed higher high-temperature oxidation resistance to water vapor with Cl- than T91 steel. The composition of the flaky oxides formed on the surface of these two steels after oxidation was related to the content of Cr in the steels. Fe2O3 was formed on the surface of T91 steel while (Fe,Cr)2O3 at three temperatures was generated on the surface of Cr-richer TP304 steel. The formation of (Fe,Cr)2O3 oxide scale could be responsible for the higher oxidation resistance of TP304 steel compared to T91 steel in the environment of water vapor with chloride.
