Abstract
The corrosion inhibition of synthetic N, N'-bis (4-hydroxy-benzyl) ethylenediamine Schiff base as corrosion inhibitor to 5052 aluminum alloy in HCl solution was studied by weight-loss method, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results show that the corrosion inhibitor had good inhibition effect to 5052 aluminum alloy in 1.0 mol/L HCl solution, and the inhibition efficiency increased with the increase of inhibitor concentration. The adsorption of N, N'-bis (4-hydroxy-benzyl) ethylenediamine Schiff base corrosion inhibitor on the surface of 5052 aluminum alloy was a combination of physical adsorption and chemical adsorption and in line with the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
