    A New Composite Anti-corrosion Layer for Edge Plate of Storage Tank Bottom

    • The performance of three kinds of common anti-corrosion materials for edge plates of storage tank bottom was compared. A new composite anti-corrosion layer for edge plates of storage tank bottom was designed by choosing a petrolatum oil anti-corrosive belt with good comprehensive performance and convenient construction as the inner anti-corrosion layer material, and a polyethylene jacket with high mechanical strength as the external protective material. Impact test and salt-spray test were applied to study the impact resistance and corrosion resistance in comparison between single anti-corrosion layer and composite anti-corrosion layer. The experimental results show that the composite anti-corrosion layer with the structure of petrolatum oil and polyethylene jacket had pretty good impact resistance and corrosion resistance. The effective service life of the composite anti-corrosion layer was as long as two times that of the single anti-corrosion layer for the storage tank.
