Effects of AC Electromagnetic Field on Corrosion Performance of Several Metals

    • Static corrosion experiment of carbon steel electrode was performed under the condition of alternating electromagnetic field treatment. And dynamic corrosion experiments of different metals(carbon steel, stainless steel, brass) under the condition of electromagnetic field treatment were carried out using a dynamic simulation device of circulating cooling water under constant conditions (water bath temperature 55℃, flow velocity 1.2 m/s, inlet temperature 30±1℃). The static corrosion experimental results showed that the alternating electromagnetic field could reduce the corrosion rate of carbon steel. The dynamic corrosion experimental results showed that the corrosion rate and pitting tendency of carbon steel, stainless steel and brass were affected by electromagnetic field. And the corrosion of different metals was affected by electromagnetic field differently. Under the action of alternating electromagnetic field, the effect of magnetic moment could inhibit the corrosion of carbon steel, and decrease the corrosion rate. However, the corrosion rates of stainless steel and brass were accelerated by the effect of mass transfer enhancement under the action of alternating electromagnetic field.
