Abstract
The corrosion behavior of galvanized steel in Yingtan, Korla and Beijing soil environments was investigated by burying test in nature field for 1 a and methods of macro-morphology, SEM, weight-loss testing and XRD. The results showed that nonuniform general corrosion occurred on the galvanized steel in the three kinds of soil. The corrosion products mainly consisted of ZnO, Zn(OH)2 and Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6. The corrosion of the samples in Yingtan, Beijing, and Korla soils varied with the pH and salt content of the soils. Samples in Yingtan soil had the most serious corrosion due to its low pH, and samples in Korla soil was also severe due to its high salt content, and galvanized steel had the slightest corrosion in the near neutral soil environment in Beijing.
