Abstract
The sedimentation rate of chloride ion in atmosphere of a tropic island was achieved using wet candle method for chloride ion collection and ion selective electrode method for analyzing concentration of chloride ion in the collected liquid. The relationships of sedimentation rate of chloride ion with environmental factors and the distance from coastline were studied. The results show that the sedimentation rate of chloride ion in the atmosphere of tropical island was large, giving the values from 83 mg/(m2·d) to 270 mg/(m2·d) at 50 m distance from coastline. In winter, the sedimentation rate of chloride ion was controlled by seawater splash and wind speed within 150 m distance from coastline. The correlations between sedimentation rate of chloride ion and atmospheric temperature, relative humidity were poor outside 150 m distance from coastline. In spring, the sedimentation rate of chloride ion was lower than 100 mg/(m2·d), and it had no correlation with atmospheric temperature and relative humidity. But the sedimentation rate of chloride ion increased with the increase of atmospheric temperature and relative humidity at 200 m distance from coastline.
