Abstract
Lauroyl chitosan (LYCS) was prepared by modification of chitosan (CS), and then sodium alginate-lauroyl chitosan (SA-LYCS) was prepared using glutaraldehyde as a cross-linking agent. The corrosion inhibition of the SA-LYCS to carbon steel in 1 mol/L HCl solution was investigated by weight loss method and electrochemical testing. The results show that inhibition efficiency increased with the increase of SA-LYCS concentration at the same temperature. At the same concentration, inhibition efficiency increased at first and then decreased with the increase of temperature. The largest value of inhibition efficiency was gotten when the temperature was 308 K. The adsorption behavior of the SA-LYCS on the steel surface was fitted to Langmuir adsorption model. The SA-LYCS was a mix inhibitor mainly inhibiting cathodic raction.
