Localized Corrosion Regularities of X80 Steel Covered with Damaged GO Modified Epoxy Coating in NaCl Solution

    • Epoxy coating was modified by adding 2% (mass fraction) graphene oxide (GO). The localized corrosion regularities of X80 steel covered with damaged GO modified epoxy coating in five NaCl solutions were investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning Kelvin probe (SKP) technology. The results show that the unique chip structure of GO could effectively inhibit the media, like H2O and chloride ions, getting into the modified coating. At the same time, due to the blocking function of GO, the corrosive activities were restricted in the defected area, and the accumulation of corrosion products formed a protective film which had a protective effect on the metal substrate.
