Abstract
The corrosion of pipelines in the production water treatment system of a certain offshore oilfield was serious. The wall thickness of the corrosion pipelines was detected by ultrasonic thickness gauge. The morphology and chemical composition of the corrosion products were observed and analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The results show that the pipeline fouling was rather serious. Carbon dioxide, sulfate reducing bacteria and dissolved oxygen were the main reasons for the corrosion of pipelines in the production water treatment system. The high content of chloride ions in the production water system increased the localized corrosion.
