Abstract
In order to investigate the influence of soil properties on the current density along buried metal pipe, the simulation model of DC grounding electrode and buried metal pipe was established by CDEGS software. The current densities of metal pipes under the condition of different soil properties were analyzed comparatively. The results show that in homogeneous soil, the current density of pipe increased with the increase of soil resistivity. In horizontal two-layer soil, the current density of pipe decreased with the increase of the resistivity of top soil, and the current density of pipe increased with the increase of the resistivity of bottom soil. The change of the resistivity of bottom soil had a significant effect on the current density at both ends of the pipe. The change of top soil thickness had less influence on the current density of the pipe.
