Abstract
2-aminopyrimidines grafted with different fatty acids were used as rust converters in combination with epoxy-polyvinylbutyral (EP-PVB) in preparing rust-tolerant anti-corrosive coatings. The morphology and corrosion resistance of the coatings were observed and tested by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical tests. The results show that rust converters formed self-assembled coatings whose morphology was related to the carbon chain length of fatty acids on the surface of rust layer. The film formation property of lauric acid grafted with 2-aminopyrimidine was best. The anti-corrosion performance of the rust-tolerant anti-corrosive coatings prepared by rust converters and EP-PVB was affected by film formation property of rust converters. The rust-tolerant anti-corrosive coating prepared by 2-aminopyrimidine grafted with lauric acid exhibited the best corrosion resistance.
