Abstract
In order to study the influence of high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system on China-Myanmar natural gas pipeline and Yuxi spur line and set up the corresponding monitoring measures, HVDC remote potential monitoring systems were installed at 7 different locations of China-Myanmar natural gas pipeline. And potential diagrams were drawn when the the pipeline was in interference, in order to evaluate cathodic protection effect and interference intensity of DC stray current. When the off-potential of pipeline in interference was higher than -0.85 V (vs CSE, the same below), the pipeline was determined to be in low protection. When the off-potential of pipeline in interference was lower than -1.2 V, the pipeline was determined to be in over protection. The above method was used to judge the situation of China-Myanmar pipeline. The monitoring results show that some pipeline segments were in low protection because of HVDC interference, and further corrosion protection measures were necessary.
