    Performance of Hard Chromium Sealing and its Application on Landing Gear for a Certain Type of Aircraft

    • Hard chromium plating is one of the most commonly used wear-resistant coatings. However, the poor corrosion resistance and air tightness limit its usage. The new chrome sealing technology can effectively improve the corrosion resistance and air tightness of chrome plating. Aiming at the problem of air leakage in the sealing part of the main landing gear of a certain aircraft, the application research of the new chrome sealing technology was carried out to comprehensively test the performance of the chrome sealing technology, and the function of the piston rod after sealing was also tested. The results show that the new chrome sealing technology could solve the problem of air leakage in the sealing part of the piston rod, effectively improve the first pass rate of the parts and save man-hours. The comprehensive performance of the sealed parts had been greatly improved, including temperature resistance, aging resistance, corrosion resistance, high and low temperature air tightness and wear resistance.
