Abstract
Effects of immersion time and trace alloying elements Fe, Mg and Ti on the general corrosion behavior of industrial nickel in molten caustic soda were evaluated by weight-loss method. The results show that with the increase of immersion time, corrosion rates of all nickel materials with different concentrations of alloying elements in molten caustic soda increased first and then decreased, and then gradually became stable. In molten caustic soda, Fe had an adverse effect on the corrosion resistance of nickel, while Mg and Ti had no significant effect on the corrosion resistance of nickel.
