Research Status of Pitting Corrosion of Stainless Steel in Oil and Gas Field Environment

Stainless steel is widely used in oil and gas field environment due to its excellent corrosion resistance. However, in some complex oil and gas fields, stainless steel is still prone to pitting corrosion. In order to ensure the safe service of stainless steel, the status of pitting corrosion of stainless steel in oil and gas field environment is reviewed from the respects of pitting mechanism and influence factors of pitting corrosion. And the research directions are proposed according to the research shortages about pitting corrosion of stainless steel in oil and gas field environment.
