Evaluation of Silane Protection for Concrete Structures in Marine Environment

    • The protective effect of silane on concrete structure was comprehensively analyzed through investigating the protective effect of silane in a real project in combination with real sea exposure test and indoor accelerated corrosion test. A calculation model was established to quantitatively evaluate the extension time of service life of concrete structures by anti-corrosion measure of silane. The results show that silane effectively insulated the invasion of chlorine ions from environment and provided a good protection for concrete structures. The external environment could not significantly affect the protective effect of silane. Based on the data from Qingdao exposure test station during 5 years, it was calculated that the extension of concrete structure service life because of silane protection was about 16 years.
