Numerical Simulation of AC interference Risk from Submarine Cables to Submerged Oil and Gas Pipelines

    • A calculation model of AC interference from submarine cables to submerged oil and gas pipelines was constructed. The effects of load current imbalance, distance between submarine cables and pipelines, resistivity of armored outer layer and grounding mode on AC interference to pipelines under normal operation were investigated by simulation. The results show that with the increase of load current imbalance and resistivity of submarine cable outer layer and the decrease of distance between submarine cable and pipeline, AC interference voltage and AC current density of pipeline increased. And under the same load current imbalance, the interference degree of the pipeline was different with the load current distribution method. When the grounding mode of submarine cable was switched from three connected to three separately grounded, the maximum interference voltage of the pipeline was increased by nearly six times.
