Analysis of Corrosion Reasons for Gathering Pipelines in Shale Gas Fields

With the development of shale gas, some gathering pipelines in shale gas fields corroded and perforated successively. Through the failure analysis of the failed pipe in combination with corrosion simulation test, the reasons for the corrosion and perforation of the shale gas gathering pipelines were studied. The results show that the corrosion and perforation of gathering pipelines in shale gas fields was mainly caused by microbial corrosion. Adding antiseptic could inhibit microbial corrosion obviously, and CO₂ corrosion was not the major factor for the corrosion of the pipelines.
