Preparation and Properties of Modified Nano-Al2O3/Epoxy Resin Composite Anti-Corrosion Coatings

Abstract
Modified nano-Al2O3/epoxy resin composite anti-corrosion coatings were prepared by adding different amounts of modified nano-Al2O3 particles into epoxy resin. The effects of nano-Al2O3 on the properties of the coating were investigated from the aspects of surface morphology, hardness and wear resistance by scanning electron microscopy, micro Vickers hardness test, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and friction and wear test. The results show that adding 5% (mass fraction) nano-Al2O3 particles into the epoxy resin could increase the hardness of the coating from 13.4 HV to 19.5 HV, and the wear resistance of the coating improved evidently.
