Abstract
A novel sensor based on coupled multi-electrode system was proposed to study top of line corrosion (TLC). The performance of the novel sensor was tested by the measurement of coupling potential, galvanic current and the observation of corrosion morphology. The results show that the novel sensor could effectively monitor the location of droplets, the droplet retention time (DRT) and other parameters which were difficult to obtain using other conventional sensors. In addition, it was found that the location of corrosion pits of the TLC problem was related to the initial nucleation and aggregation process of the droplets, and the corrosion products had a great influence on the formation of droplets.
