Cracked Reason of Cold Deformed 316L Stainless Steel Cable and Threading Seamless Pipe

Abstract
Cracking occurred in cracked application of cold deformed 316L stainless steel cable threading seamless pipe. The failure reasons were analyzed by morphology observation, chemical composition analysis, mechanical property test, residual stress analysis and microstructure analysis. The results showed that chemical composition of the cracked pipeline met the standard stipulation, and there were no precipitates and inclusions. The high density dislocation and slip band introduced by cold deformation made the strength and hardness of the pipe increased obviously and there was a high residual stress in pipeline, which was the main reason for hydrogen-induced stress corrosion cracking of the pipeline in wet H2S environment.
