Effect of Repository Environment on Corrosion of Cold-Rolling Products in Steel Mill

    • A large area of corrosion was found on the surface of cold-roll products in the repository of a steel mill, and preliminary analysis showed that the atmospheric environment of the repository was corrosive to a certain extent. The corrosion on the surface of cold-rolled steel with ultra-low carbon was investigated in the repository by atmospheric coupon test and scanning electron microscopy. And the atmospheric environmental parameters of the repository were simultaneously monitored. Results show that a warm and moist environment and high content of HCl were the main causes of corrosion. With targeted technical reform, the corrosion of cold-rolled steel in the repository was significantly reduced.
