Corrosion Characteristics and Performance Changes of High-Temperature Broadband Ferrite in Different Environments

    • The corrosion characteristics of high-temperature broadband ferrite were studied in three typical environments including cutting fluid, NaCl solution and a hygrothermal environment. The corrosion law and mechanism were analyzed, and the effects of corrosion on wave absorbing properties and adhesive property of the ferrite were studied. The results show that the ferrite was easy to corrode in NaCl solution and hygrothermal environment. In NaCl solution, the surface of the ferrite was evenly covered by corrosion products, and corrosion products fell off and dissolved in the solution. In the hygrothermal environment, nonuniform corrosion appeared because of the uneven distribution of corrosive medium on the ferrite surfaces. Scabby corrosion layers and spherical corrosion products formed after drying. Corrosion only occurred on the surfaces of the material, and did not penetrated into the material, whether in the NaCl solution or in the hygrothermal environment. The corrosion of the high-temperature broadband ferrite had serious impact on the wave absorbing properties and the adhesive property of the material, resulting in the fluctuation of wave absorbing properties and the deterioration of interface bonding of antenna products.
