Corrosion Behavior of Pure Ti in NaCl Salt Spray Environment at 600 ℃

    • Corrosion tests were carried out on pure Ti and Ti60 alloy in a NaCl salt spray environment at 600 ℃, and the oxidation kinetics, oxide film phase composition and microstructure were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffractometer(XRD) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), to study the corrosion behavior of pure Ti in the experimental environment. The results suggested that the corrosion rate of pure Ti in NaCl salt spray environment was much higher than that of Ti60 alloy after being corroded in NaCl salt spray environment at 600 ℃ for 100 h. The presence of NaCl introduced pores and cracks into the oxide scale, increased the volatilization of TiCl4, formed a new reaction surface and started a new growth cycle, resulting in repeated multilayer oxide scale.
