Performance of New Type All-Solid Ag/AgX Composite Reference Electrode for Marine Environment

    • The Ag/AgX/PANI and Ag/AgX/PPy reference electrodes were prepared by powder pressing method with polyaniline (PANI) and polypyrrole (PPy) as additions, and their performance of stability, temperature response characteristic, constant current polarization and linear polarization were tested in simulated marine environment. The results showed that Ag/AgX/PANI andAg/AgX/PPy electrodes had the same excellent potential stability as pure Ag/AgX electrode, and their temperature coefficient were reduced from 0.36 mV/℃ to 0.27 mV/℃ and 0.26 mV/ ℃, respectively. Under the constant current density condition of ±5 μA/cm2, the stable time of the two composite electrode potentials was within 1 h, and the potential drift value of Ag/AgX/PPy electrode was smaller, which was consistent with the results of linear polarization. The potential fluctuation value of Ag/AgX/PPy electrode in static and dynamic marine environments was about 0.30 mV, which further indicated that it can be a promising new type of all solid-state composite reference electrode for marine applications.
