Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Welded Joints of Q500qENH High Strength Weathering Steel

    • Using Q500qENH steel as the substrate, two types of welded joint specimens containing different weather resistant elements were made using the carbon dioxide shielded welding method. The corrosion resistance and elemental enrichment of the two samples were investigated using an alternating dry wet accelerated corrosion test. The results showed that as compared with No.2 welded joint sample, No.1 welded joint sample with high weathering element content had a denser and more stable rust layer after corrosion, and there was a significant enrichment of weathering elements, with relatively low corrosion rate and depth.
