Abstract
Taking the calculation and arrangement of auxiliary anodes for impressed current cathodic protection on the inner surface of a 3 400 m3 carbon steel water injection tank as an example, three auxiliary anode arrangement schemes were compared. The effects of the number of anode strings, the number of anodes in a single string, and the distance among anodes and tank walls, bottom, and liquid level on the effectiveness of auxiliary anode arrangement in the cathodic protection system on the inner surface of the water injection tank were discussed. The results showed that the protection effect was respectively good when using Scheme 3. In the process of auxiliary anode layout, it was necessary to calculate and chech the parameters such as the distance between the top of the anode string and the liquid level in the tank, 2. 5Sab which was to distance between the bottom of the anode string and the tank bottom, to ensure that the surface of each part of the tank wall was protected, and to ensure that the adopted anode setting scheme was reasonable and effective.
