Research Progress of Metal-Organic Frameworks in the Field of Metal Anticorrosion

    • Anticorrosion protection is a key step to extend the service life of metal. Surface protection, medium treatment, electrochemical protection, and other ways are the protection methods. By establishing physical isolation between metal substrate and corrosion medium, surface protection and medium treatment are conventional methods for protective treatment of formed metal. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can enhance physical isolation and reduce corrosion rate in terms of corrosion inhibition, passivation, hydrophobicity, and improvement of polymer mechanical properties. The research achievements in recent years are summarized, and the research progress of MOFs and metals, the anti-corrosion mechanism of MOFs, the characteristics of MOFs with anti-corrosion properties, and the application systems of MOFs' anticorrosion are also summarized.
