Brief Analysis on Corrosion Data of Buried Gas Transmission Pipeline

    • Taking a buried gas pipeline in a certain city as the research subject, the test data of cathodic protection (CP) test stations and excavation results along the entire pipeline were analyzed, in combination with stray current interference and mitigation measures. The results show that by adjusting the potentiostat and implementing measures such as polarity drainage, the under-protection rate of the pipeline significantly decreased, while the over-protection rate notably increased, indicating effective cathodic protection across the entire pipeline. The recent increase in AC current density was attributed to two newly added interference sources nearby. Based on drainage protection monitoring data and excavation verification, it was preliminarily determined that two corrosion pits were caused by DC stray current interference. Analyzing pipeline corrosion data could more effectively guide corrosion monitoring and protection efforts. To ensure the efficient operation of the entire pipeline, further in-depth data analysis was required.
