Hydrogen Embrittlement Sensitivity of X60 Pipeline Steel in Hydrogen-Containing Environment

    • The hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility of X60 pipeline steel in hydrogen-free environment (normal temperature and pressure) and hydrogen-containing environment (hydrogen mass fraction of 3%, total pressure of 6 MPa) was studied by hydrogen permeation test, slow strain rate test, fracture toughness test and fatigue crack growth test. The results show that the microstructure of X60 steel was mainly composed of ferrite and pearlite. Compared with the hydrogen-free environment, the strength, plasticity, crack tip opening displacement and fatigue crack growth rate of X60 steel in the hydrogen-containing environment changed little, and the risk of hydrogen embrittlement was low for X60 steel.
