Corrosion and Protection of Buried Important Pipelines

The corrosion and protection in soil environments is one of the key issues of the structural integrity and life management of buried important pipelines.In the first part of this paper,the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of high pressure pipelines as one of the hot problems of corrosion and protection of buried pipelines in the world is briefly reviewed,and the research of the authors on the SCC behavior and its protection of the pipeline steels in relevant high pH and near-neutral pH soil environments for high pressure gas long-distance transmission pipeline in eastern China and network in Shanghai area is described.In the second part of this paper,the development of anti-corrosion coatings for pipelines is briefly reviewed,and the coating selected and relevant tests for the main pipeline in Qingcaosha Water Project as one of the ongoing key projects in Shanghai are also introduced.
