Abstract
The mechanism of the destruction of buried pipeline cathodic protection (CP) system was studied by constant potential polarization and constant current polarization using laboratory simulation device. A new method to determine the cathodic protection potential was also studied. The results show that a new buried metallic pipeline CP criterion under AC interference condition can be established based on the trend of protection current density curve. A minimum cathodic protection potential formula at AC interference current deusities from 0 to 100 A·m-2 was built up.
