Disturbed Corrosion of Buried Gas Pipe-lines Induced by Rail Traffic Dynamic Stray Current

    • Most of the buried gas pipe-line corrosion is induced by the dynamic stray current leaking from the rail traffic.Due to the complexity and variability of the field environments,in-depth study on dynamic stray current disturbance and corrosion is scare, the hazard judgment of dynamic stray current is mainly set up on the basis of working experience.A stray-current accelerated corrosion test platform was set up to investigate the time-varying patterns of stray current and the changing characters of pipe-to-soil potential. The effects of soil pH,soil conductivity, stray current frequency and density on corrosion rate were also investigated.A math model was built to establish the factors′ contribution rate to pipeline corrosion and the reliability of the model was verified, which provides theoretical evidence for the judgment of buried gas pipelines' corrosion hazard.
