Abstract
The effects of frequency and aqueous media on the friction coefficient and wear-loss of LY12 aluminum alloy were analyzed by using a ball-on-flat configuration with 300 μm amplitude.Potentiodynamic anodic polarization was used to study the electrochemical corrosion behavior of LY12 aluminum alloy before and after the corrosion wear. Results showed that the friction coefficient decreased in both aqueous solutions with the increase of frequency.Although rainwater could reduce the friction coefficient, the wear-loss in rainwater was still higher than that in distilled water, leading to a positive synergism between corrosion and wear. The wear mechanism of LY12 aluminum alloy was typical abrasive wear at low frequencies and abrasive wear associated by corrosion fatigue at high frequencies.
