    Technology Overview and Development of Regional Cathodic Protection

    • This paper introduces the necessity for the implementation of regional cathodic protection and the difficulty in the engineering application, according to the actual circumstance of cathodic protection area, how to adopt rational design and construction technology, so as to obtain a uniform distribution of protection current, and to avoid or limit the impact of the interference and shielding by the protection current. Cathodic protection is a complex systemic engineering integrated by design, construction and operation. Numerical simulation, which is applied a lot to the optimal design of cathodic protection system, displays a huge advantage compared to traditional methods. So, in the development of cathodic protection technology, not only should be the design itself emphasized, but also other elements such as siting of station, pipeline construction and operation management should be also taken into account. Besides, numerical simulation should be also applied further to guide the regional cathodic protection design.
