Influence of Alternating Current Interference on Cathodic Protection System of Buried Pipelines

    • With the acceleration of infrastructure, the AC interference of buried pipelines caused by HVAC power transmission line and AC electric railway becomes increasingly serious. The traditional cathodic protection criterion can not effectively restrain the AC corrosion in many cases, the influence and mechanism of action between AC interference and cathodic protection have not yet reached an agreement. This paper summarizs the current researches, including the suitable cathodic protection potential under AC interference condition, the current density index through deliberate consideration about mechanism of action between AC interference and cathodic protection, which can offer reference to select parameters of cathodic protection under AC interference condition.
